Statues Series

The incorruptible,

Unmovable, unbreakable

The statues made of marble

Their features chiseled by the gods

And sent to face the fate of observation

No, not quite living

Just watching--

No evidence points to life.

But the eyes,

They’ve seen things,

They’ve been painted by tears,

Red, blue, black, gold:

From the purest sorrow

To the most jubilant joys

They have watched.

They have experienced.

But they have yet to- truly,

Independently--

And fully live.

So they write--

These statues: doomed to serve as scribes,

Their tears: the ink of choice

They long.

They plea.

To live!
